This may sound exclusive at first. And to clear up any confusion, I want to clarify that the Gospel is absolutely exclusive – no doubt about it. The truth of God’s word does not allow for any other religious message or “truth” to stand equal with the Gospel. After all, Jesus did say in John 14:6 – “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Jesus Christ is the only message of hope and salvation that exist. Plain and simple.
Our hope is that this lesson achieves two goals for our students. 1) That they might be further convinced that the Gospel is the only way to salvation. 2) That this truth might naturally encourage them to share the Gospel with those around them. If it is true that only the Gospel can save, then every living soul in Elbert County’s only hope of eternal life is through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our students needs to learn how desperate the need for salvation is here in Elberton, and we hope that this lesson helps them to understand that.
Below are some questions that you can ask your student this week to “keep the conversation going”. This is a simple and easy way that you, the parent, can disciple your students in accord with what we’re teaching on Wednesday night.
- What is the Gospel? *See if your students can give you a correct answer to this. All saved people should know this! We must know this in order to share it with others.
- Why do you think it’s so important to know what the Gospel actually teaches? Would it be ok to believe something that the Bible doesn’t teaching regarding the Gospel? (A: WE need to know the true Gospel so that we can be saved! Without the true Gospel message, there is no salvation. And -NO; we must know that the Bible gives us perfect truth and we need to believe what the Bible says about the Gospel.)
- What are some “false gospels” (false teachings) that people believe in today that the Bible doesn’t agree with? (A: Discuss! There are tons of examples)
- Do you think the Gospel message is important for everyone to know? How can you start sharing this message with friends on a regular basis? (A: Discuss!)
