This a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about repentance, confession, and coming back to the Lord if we have walked away from Him – and that will be the main focus of our discussion tonight. I’ll be teaching out of Psalm 145 and speaking to David’s passionate love for God that dictated everything he did; consequentially showing that we live in sinfulness when we begin to love other “things” more than we love God. The bible calls this sin, and our own sinfulness is unfortunately what makes events like revivals even necessary to begin with.
We want to call our students deeper into loving relationship with God tonight by challenging them to love God more than anything in their lives. When our hearts and minds are this focused on God, our actions that follow will land in between the guidelines of biblical obedience. As our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ says in John 14:15, “If you love me, you will obey my commandments.” We as Christians don’t obey Christ because we feel that they are a set of religious rules that make us holy; rather, we obey Christ because we love Him. In our deep and committed love to Christ, we find ourselves being conformed to His image. This is what truly pleases God the most in our lives!
Please pray for our students tonight as we talk about revival and our overall commitment to Christ.
Also, I would love to hear back from you all about how this blog is assisting you in discipling your student/students. We love putting this blog up for our parents to read and know what is going on in our Student Ministry, but we also want it to be effective and useful to you as well! Let us know how we can better serve you through this blog and in any other manner. God Bless!
