What We're Learning
Hey Youth Parents! This semester at FBC Youth, we’ll be walking through the book of Galatians with our students. This is a fantastic letter of Paul to the churches in Galatia that ultimately serves two purposes: to correct the false doctrine being taught to them by false teachers, and encourage the truth of the Gospel and it’s consequent effects on our lives. In the midst of this teaching, Paul champions the doctrine of justification by faith alone as the only way that men can be saved – not by works.
This short letter of scripture is incredibly relevant to our students for a number of reasons. First, as all scripture does, Galatians seeks to glorify the Gospel of Jesus up against the false teaching and ideology of the day. Our students, who are culturally bombarded with various sinful messages on a daily basis as a result of our culture, can surely benefit from Paul’s exhortation to reject the false teaching of the day and hold fast to the Gospel.
In addition to this, Paul’s message in Galatians of justification by faith alone is a truly freeing message that all Christians should champion and understand. So many individuals spend their entire lives trying to work for God’s favor in a multitude of ways. Paul reminds us in Galatians that our sinfulness cannot be cured by any work of our own, but only by the work of Christ on the Cross and the work of the Holy Spirit upon our hearts – that gives us the gift of faith. Our students and all Christians can continually be encouraged to trust in the Gospel message of “faith alone in Christ alone”, so that they can continue to move forward in faithful obedience with a greater desire to glorify God in all that they do.
Please pray for our students throughout this semester as they continue to study the scriptures and specifically the epistle of Galatians. Pray that the saints in Christ will be sanctified through the teaching of God’s Word, and pray that the lost who hear the Gospel would respond with faith and repentance. Soli Deo Gloria!
